About

Picture
Star Huson is a multi-media artist based in Santa Cruz, CA. She often refers to herself as "artistically obese", due to the constant depiction of food throughout her work.  One of the foundations for Huson's work comes from her admiration for the often food-based art of Wayne Thiebaud;, an artist she was exposed to at a young age and has been inspired by ever since. Another foundation is derived by her related interest in the aesthetic of mid-century advertising and consumer culture in the commercial world during the 1950s-60s. This era has heavily influenced Huson's work throughout the past several years, from advertisements to children's books.

Star is a recent graduate of UC Santa Cruz with a BA in art and a minor in History of Art and Visual Culture. Star currently resides in Santa Cruz where she continues to make work.  She works primarily as a printmaker with an emphasis in screen printing, but her work also includes drawing and painting.
